“Getaway car”, an exhibition of oils on canvas paintings by noted artist, Eugenie Marais, provokes the magic we may find in the mundane.

Eugenie Marais, an award winning graduate from Potchefstroom University for CHE, is known for the evocative quality of her work. Her pristine technique, extraordinary sense of form, composition, light and colour as well as her visionary view of the everyday symbols which influence our lives, brings a unique quality to her paintings.

Marais’ still life’s, landscapes and urban vistas tell of nostalgia and promise, of the escape routes we find on different levels to enrich our lives, the soul spaces in our minds, the aesthetic pleasure we could experience from that which we pass by on a daily basis.

“Getaway car” is unique, sensual, inspiring, joyous – a must see.
