Guy du Toit and Judith Mason

From 2 May to 20 May 2004, the Association of Arts Pretoria hosts an exhibition of works by veteran artists Judith Mason and Guy du Toit in its Mackie Street Gallery.

Judith Mason, over many years, has established herself as one of our country’s leading artists. Her works, which are of the highest technical quality, display a depth of feeling, a variety of themes, a pervasive spirituality and infinite compassion with the human condition. They have never failed to intrigue and enthral art lovers and art connoisseurs. In her forthcoming exhibition of paintings and drawings she expresses a sense of humour, a sensuality and a commitment to social realities which lifts her work beyond the mundane and ordinary.

Guy du Toit is an acclaimed sculptor who has gained much recognition both in our country and abroad. His understanding of contemporary art and his instinctive ability to capture movement and feeling, make his work visually immediately accessible. This, however, does not hide the artists’ intellectual strength and his ability to capture pathos and tragedy in such a way that the viewing of this work becomes a strong emotional experience.

An added attraction is that the exhibition will be opened by the artists themselves on Sunday 2 May 2004 at 17:30 for 18:00.
