5 September - 24 September 2004
Jaco Benade, one of the most talented and popular artists of Pretoria, is holding an exhibition of his paintings in the Mackie Street Art Gallery of the Association of Arts Pretoria. The exhibition is opened by Professor Ricky Mauer, prominent industrial psychologist and art collector, on 5 September 2004 at 17:30 for 18:00, and runs till 24 September 2004.
The artist calls his exhibition 3 Genres. By bringing together on one single canvas the three basic optical elements which we observe in our daily lives, namely the outward appearance of fellow human beings, the environment as well as other objects which surround us, he creates a total visual experience. This integrated visual experience of portraits, landscapes and still lives, transcends an ordinary objective view to become an emotional vision, inviting us to recall our own memories, sentiments and dreams. Also, by suggesting and including diverse cultural elements in his visual web, he makes us aware of the subtleties and influences which underpin our own artistic appreciation and understanding.
Jaco Benade’s work was once quite appropriately described as “tender and delectable”. His painting techniques are masterly and his presentations most pleasing. “3 Genres” will enthral both discerning art connoisseurs and art lovers in general.
