22 AUGUST - 9 SEPT 2004
Kay Fourie, the very talented and laureate Free State sculptor, holds an exhibition of her sculptures and drawings in the Mackie Street art gallery of the Association of Arts Pretoria, from
22 August to 9 September 2004. The exhibition will be opened by Lynette ten Krooden on Sunday 22 August 2004 at 18:00.
Portraitstudy is the main theme of her works. The fundamental question which she poses is whether the inner person is reflected in an outward appearance. Does one carry one’s heart on one’s sleeve? All her strong, refined studies in cement fondue, paper maché or ceramics, depict a specific person or human type, caught in a given context of time, situation or mood. Charm, emotions but also frailty reflected in the human outward appearance form the essence of her creative search.
