Linky de Bruyn
EXHIBITION OF OIL PAINTINGS
15 AUGUST - 2 SEPT 2004

The exhibition of Linky de Bruyn is focused on the essence and intrinsic beauty of things. This conscious search for beauty is noticeable in her paintings which have become a Pilgrimage into Solitude, Light and Stillness.

The artist is at home in vast, evocative landscapes. Her subject matter, technique and compositions are direct and uncomplicated. The sensitive play of form, subtle colour, light and shadow effects are peacefully in harmony with the overall theme of solitude, light and stillness.

Linky’s career as professional artist spans more than 40 years. She describes herself as multi-faceted, innovative and inquisitive but also introspective, philosophical and contemplative. Although she has spent most of her professional career as a graphic designer she has never lost her passion for the fine arts. Two years ago she formally retired from the commercial scene and seriously took up the challenge of oil painting again.

All the works to be exhibited at the Association of Arts Pretoria from 15 August until 2 September 2004 were created during the past two years.

Lina Spies, poetess, soul friend and fellow pilgrim of the artist is to open the exhibition on Sunday 15 August 2004 at 18:00.
