Marlene Carpenter is holding from 12 September 2004 to 23 September 2004 an exhibition of her artworks in the Mackie Street Gallery of the Association of Arts Pretoria. The exhibition is opened on Sunday 12 September 2004 at 17:30 for 18:00 by Carl Jeppe.

The artist, Marlene Carpenter, received her art training in graphics and was a participant in numerous exhibitions over the past years. She is one of that special group of South African artists who spent some time in the Paris Cité Internationale des Arts. She calls her exhibition, “Fragments and Elements”. It comprises recent works consisting mainly out of collages done in mixed media.

On her own work, Marlene has the following to say : “I investigate life’s surfaces without trying to solve or distract from the mysteries and complexities of life itself. With my different techniques it is my quest to delicately touch the vibrations and tensions of human existence.”

This is an exhibition which shines with creative spontaneity and is no doubt worth a visit. The exhibition can be viewed from Tuesday to Friday, 9:30 to 170 and Saturday, 9:30 to 13:00.
