Dirk Meerkotter, the acclaimed South African artist with more than 80 solo exhibitions, presents on Sunday 15 May 2005 at 17:30 for 18:00, a retrospective exhibition of his works from 1950 to 2002 in the Mackie Street gallery of the Association of Arts Pretoria. The exhibition runs till 2 June 2005.
Meerkotter is a versatile artist who work in acrylic, oils, watercolours, colour etches, glass and ceramics. He is known an much sought after for his masterful abstract designs with their imaginative and brilliant colourings.
He says : “My works are not illustrations of what I see. They are my personal experiences of the forms which I observe daily around me”.
His exhibition promises to be one of the major events on this year’s art calendar.
