Diek Grobler will be exhibiting in the Galerie Chaton at the Association of Arts Pretoria from 5 May 2006 to 24 May 2006. Grobler will be showing small charcoal and gouache drawings from a series titled “Small World”. The series were conceptualised while on a short stay at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris during December 2005, and portrays ideas about simple, small, daily events, and how they constitute every individual’s small world.

Diek Grobler obtained his BA Fine Arts degree from the University of Pretoria in 1987 and his Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1996. He has exhibited professionally since 1988 and his work is included in several major public and corporate collections. Grobler has won several awards, amongst others two merit awards in the Absa Atelier competition, and more recently a gold medal for painting at the International Delphic Games 2005 in Kutching, Malaysia. He currently occupies himself mainly with exploring the creative possibilities of animation, and has participated in five international animation festivals over the past year.
