Mirror of Soul15 November 2024 - 16 February 2025 Participating: Martin August'n The exhibition by the Slovak artist, Martin Augustín, will be hosted by the Pretoria Art Museum and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Pretoria from 15 November 2024 to 16 February 2025. The Mirror of Soul exhibition came to light after the artist accepted the invitation by the Slovak Ambassador at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in South Africa, HE Vladimír Crácz, to exhibit in South Africa. As a challenge and honour, he seized the opportunity with enthusiasm, delving into timeless and all-human topics. Martin Augustín lives and works in Bratislava in the Slovak Republic. He is a painter, graphic artist, illustrator and graphic designer, but above all a solitary artist who chose his own path and pursues it with humility, compassion and love. Painting on paper is a medium that has long ago enchanted him and basically defines his creations. Handmade Japanese paper interwoven with thin capillaries enhances the fragility and delicacy of the final result, hinting at the interwoven threads of destiny. Augustín has an admiration for women – the fascinating etheric beings full of mysteries. Through his artworks he depicts their poetic stories, fragility and grace. Women are not only a symbol of beauty and love but also of the eternal bond. She unites the family, builds a haven; she is tender and simultaneously immensely strong. The more the world immerses into chaos the more necessary it is to outweigh it with peace, compassion, mutual respect and tolerance, which is the message of this exhibition.
