Mpho ya Badimo23 November 2024 Participating: Sesing Frank Nthunya-Morai This debut solo exhibition of ceramics, titled Mpho ya Badimo meaning 'gift of the ancestors', draws inspiration from ancient African practices, particularly those originating from Nigeria, South Africa, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe. Each of the artists' pieces undergoes smoke firing in a pit which adorns these hand-built vessels with spontaneous earthy patterning.
"The delicate, intricate patterns and meticulous artistry invite us to explore the details, while the strong sensual shapes reflect a sense of stability and presence. This duality captures our attention, but also highlights Frank's talent for honouring traditional forms and techniques while presenting us with a fresh, contemporary perspective." -Hennie Meyer VENUE:EBONY BORDEAUX HOUSE Address: 4 Bordeaux Street, Franschhoek Tel: +27 (0)21 876 2616
