Apart from being a successful artist, Jo is also highly ranked as a teacher, lecturer, examiner and designer of trophies. A truly versatile artist, he sculpts, paints and carves with the same dedication and ease, and has already partaken in 70 exhibitions, of which 20 were solo.

As sculptor he worked in Italy and the United States of America. As anamalier (bronze) his work has wide acclaim and he is represented in collections locally and overseas, including New York, San Francisco, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Oslo, London, Tipperary, Bonn, Antwerpen, Dublin and Tokyo. He keeps his collections small, ranging from two to ten.

Jo completed more than 100 portrait busts on commission since the sixties, in leadwood, marble and bronze, of which the most important include portrait busts of presidents Nelson Mandela and Sam Nujoma.

One of Jo's most prominent international commissions was a 8 x 3 meter bronze mural for the South African War memorial in Delville Wood, France.

Jo believes in using live models and has a delightful collection of bronze nudes. He lives and works in the picturesque area of Magaliesburg, between Pretoria and Johannesburg.
