CURRICULUM VITAE:

Education

  • 2000: Matriculated at Hoërskool Ventersdorp.
  • 2004: Graduate BA (Fine Arts), with a distinction in practical work, at the University of Pretoria.
  • 2007: Finished my Masters degree in the Visual arts working with multi media sculpture and installation art as medium of specialization. The subject of my dissertation was: The educational potential of new genre public art in South Africa.

    Work experience

  • 2003-2004: Developed and coordinated a community project, Colour Gift.
  • 2005-2006: Throughout 2005 I worked with a group of people selected by the Development Bank of South Africa on the development and implementation of a Teachers Training Workshop dealing with the Arts and Culture curriculum [Manda Bester (Project manager), Charlotte Schaer (from the CDP), Helene Smuts, and myself].
  • 2007/8: Worked as a part time lecturer at the University of Pretoria, giving a variety of lectures dealing with New Genre Public Art and Community Art Projects.
  • 2008: Worked as a lecturer at Fried Contemporary Art Gallery and Studio, giving the Advanced Art Making and Drawing classes. During this period I also occasionally helped out with administrational tasks at the gallery.
  • 2008: Throughout 2008 I worked as project manager of the Centenary Rose Collaborative Community Art Project, with the University of Pretoria’s Art Department and the Department of Corporate Communication and Marketing.

  • 2001-2004: Distinction in practical work.

  • 2002: Archneer’s award for highest achiever in Sculpture.
  • 2003: Archneer’s award for highest overall achievement.
  • New Signatures Art Competition, overall winner. Pretoria Arts Museum.
  • 2004: Eduardo Villa Sculpture bursary for best achievement in sculpture final year.
  • 2009: Lorenzo il Magnifico award for fourth place in Installation art at the Biennale Internazionale Dell’ Art Contemporanea. Florence, Italy.
