Pop-Up Exhibition28 June 2024 Participating: Ohara School of Ikebana in South Africa An exhibition to celebrate their 45th year as an lkebana Chapter. The Ohara School strives to promote the Japanese art of flower arrangement in South Africa. With this exhibition at the Association of Arts Pretoria, the school's members will exhibit different lkebana styles to give guests an insight into the art of lkebana. Although lkebana is steeped in the traditions of Japanese art, it is not static and the traditional teaching in no way prevents it from being dynamic. The Ohara School of lkebana emphasizes minimalism, seasonal qualities and the natural growth of plants. It is also an expression of balance, harmony and simplicity. The students of the late Grand Master in Ohara lkebana, Danielle Crafford, were privileged to be taught by her about the Japanese art of lkebana. Professors of Ohara School Headquarters in Japan also visited South Africa to do workshops and demonstrations. The school's teachers hold certificates of high qualification, and all certificates are awarded by the headquarters of Ohara School of lkebana Japan.
