Conserving the beauty of art7 October 2023 Participating: Dian Louw Conserving the beauty of art
Working with underprivileged and trafficked children, I realised the smallness yet importance of everyone. I am pushing the artistic boundaries back to beauty, back to where we can admire and recognise the beauty in each art piece and individual. With less than 27000 rhinos’ left in the world- conservatists are fighting to save these magnificent species from extinction- before their brushstroke fades out.
Will we also fight for individuals- a one of a kind unique species?
May each of these endangered species be a reminder to seek the beauty in everyday life- seeking the beauty in each other.
My scribbling pieces represent the beauty that might arise from something ugly and confusing, but once you step away- distance yourself, the beauty will reflect, even for a moment before the thought takes flight and moves on to a next branch.
Dian Louw is known for telling the stories of children he met in orphanages, through his art and lately he also broadened his horizons to shed the light on all endangered species- human and animal. May we all start seeking and conserving the beauty of everyone you meet daily.
