Step into a world where fairy tales, environmental commentary and intricate craftsmanship collide.

 

In his new solo exhibition, Will Roux revisits his fascination with folklore and mythic storytelling, reimagining these familiar narrative traditions through a contemporary lens. The Luminescent Dawn: The Chronicles of Aethelgard explores the tension between humanity, technology and the natural world through a dark fantasy unfolding across three narrative phases.

 

Roux’s extraordinary works are created through a meticulous combination of hand-cut paper, embroidery, structural paper weaving and integrated LED lighting. Each incision, layer and stitch becomes part of the story, transforming the paper into landscapes marked by both destruction and repair. Gold threads and woven root networks appear like delicate sutures, connecting fragmented layers and suggesting the possibility of healing.

 

While the story begins in the violence of a forest under siege and moves through grief and sacrifice, it ultimately arrives somewhere softer: a place of restoration, light and renewal.

 

The Luminescent Dawn invites us to consider our relationship with nature not simply as a history of scars, but as something that can still be carefully and reverently stitched back together.
