Sotiris Moldovanos - “Flatter”

Sotiris Moldovanos studied Fine Arts at Pretoria Technikon (Tshwane University of Technology). He focuses on painting; working with a variety of materials and showing a preference for the figure in his subject matter. These figures, while anatomically correct, are simplified, flattened, often becoming outlines, cut-outs or silhouettes. In some paintings, there is hardly a clue to the figure, or all is a vibrant pattern, reminiscent of op art, or hard-edge abstraction.

This will be his 4th show at Dawid Ras Gallery.

Weyers du Toit - “Snapshots”

Weyers du Toit paints fast to capture his plein air landscapes and quirky still lives from life in alla prima - to arrest the motion of sun and shadow. He studied fine art under Liesbeth Gunther at The Cape College until 1994. He currently lives in his Overberg hometown, Bredasdorp.

He has worked as deckhand, cruise ship photographer, overland truck driver, commercial diver and house painter before.
