Unusual Ways to Showcase Sculpture at Home

Posted on 28 April 2016

Art lovers often consider their home as an immediate, enjoyable place to display their art so they can see it every day. Adding original sculpture to your home can take your interiors to another dimension but can sometimes be difficult to integrate into your existing decor. Art.co.za suggests six ways to add sculpture to your home.

Large sculptural pieces can make a statement right from when your guests walk through the door. The entrance hall of this Constantia home features West African Senufo bird statues from Amatuli.

Sculptures can also be functional art pieces such as Stelios Mousarris' Wave City Coffee Table, inspired by 2010 film Inception, is a well balanced mixture of art and function.

Sculpture does not have to be confined to the interior rooms and spaces of your house as seen in this Joburg home featured in House and Leisure, with its bright Gordon Froud cone sculpture in the garden.

Placing an interesting sculpture on living room, dining room and bedroom shelves will break the monotony of books and frames such as this shapely metallic sculpture by Cornelia Kubler Kavanagh.

Make a statement with a thought-provoking sculpture piece like Brett Murray's What would Oprah Do? text wall sculpture seen here in Adam Lippes's Manhattan bedroom.

A sculpture by Louise Bourgeois overlooking a bathroom in French architect Jacques Grange's Paris apartment shows that adding sculpture to unconventional rooms can make an interesting feature.
