RETHINKING PATRIARCHY
An exhibition of etchings, drypoints & monotypes by Derek Zietsman

The works in the exhibition are transgressive visual interpretations of the influences behind how South African men and women perform their identities.

Rethinking Patriarchy essentially satirizes the structures and processes behind hegemonic patriarchy, such as religious dogma, political hypocrisy, objectification of women, etc.

The objective of the exhibition is to show how visual texts can serve to reflect and comment on the changing roles of men and women in South African society, to expose a fragility in post-apartheid gender performativity.

Exhibition runs from 24 July - 12 September 2015
