"I Don't Care" (2012)

I like the contradiction of making a quilt that says such strong opposing words. Making a quilt for someone is an act of caring, it is a time consuming laborious process assembling squares into a pattern. When finished it can be suspended like a banner, a strong proclamation of this emotion, or it can become something that one hides underneath, a cover, or it can be something that one sits on, aloofly unaware. I don’t care becomes this suspended emotion; it is never easy to arrive at that point where one doesn’t care and it also not easy to stay there.
