![]() About Line Opening: 17 July 2026 at 18:00 - 17 July 2026 Participating: Franco Enrico Artist Statement I used to be a ballet dancer. I still dance through my art… Ballet like all performing arts occurs in a moment. In the moment to be precise, and unless that moment is being recorded its gone, forever floating in the rosy coloured past of “back then”. This exhibition is an attempt to capture an essence of that moment. Its a celebration of line and form expressed through the human body. A celebration of that fantastical flash of agonising joy that is dance. The medium of pencil and watercolour used in this exhibition resonates with the immediate, fragile and luminescent quality of this timeless moment. Ballet, like all creative movement, celebrates the poetic quality of the human body to embody and create line. The line cast by the shadows of muscles, by the contours of the legs as they flow into the curve of the foot. In the lines of the neck as it draws into protracted shoulders and cascades down a fluid spine. Or in the back as the muscles stretch and contract to shape a spine spiralling into a counterpoint waist. And don’t forget the arms as they frame the torso, providing a dynamic narrative, leading the body into its next moment of creative expression. The art also attempts to reach beyond the constraints of the body, beyond its musculoskeletal structure, beyond the choreography into the void, into the negative space that far outlasts the moment of dance. That void, or empty space where all movement has happened, will happen and is always happening. You see those lines, the way the watercolour bleeds beyond the form of the body? Its all resonance. Like interesting ripples in a lake, its energy dancing off of energy. It the continuation of movement long after it has ceased.
