Stellenbosch Art Academy launches exciting Higher Certificate in Drawing

Posted on 7 October 2020

Drawing is a fundamental skill for any artist, it is about evolving the ability to see, imagine and visualize.

The Higher Certificate in Drawing (NQF5) programme at Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography is a one-year programme that gives students a solid foundation in the techniques, practice and theoretical aspects of drawing.

Initially, it focuses on the traditional, mostly observational, drawing and moves towards the conceptual and imaginative. The theory and practice that underpins drawing will be explored through figure, object, conceptual, constructional and digital drawing.

The programme has also been designed in such a way as to allow established artists to tap into aspects of the programme and develop their skills and thinking. We have also done this to entice different skill sets and experiences into this creative space. Established artists will benefit from our expert tutors while also acting as mentors and role models to the younger artists. Creating an immersive and generous creative experience and space.
