Elephant graveyard

Elephant Graveyard can at best be described as a sculptural piece created for a happening. The sculptural object was made from found pieces of broken farm implements. Bent pieces of found metal forms an animal-like skeleton aimed at representing a carcass of an Elephant.

During the happening the 'skeleton' was covered with oil, set alight and finally covered with lime. This happening was created after the artist saw a news report on Zimbabwe during 2003.

At the time President Mugabe were reclaiming farm land and many white farmers were forcefully removed from their property. The farm implements that stood desolated next to empty farm houses looked like Elephant graveyards.
