Printed stills from the Videos
The exhibition consists of nine video-based works, photographs and digital prints of video stills. The videos and stills which document the waist training performance are purposely allusive and poetic.
Each video has a different description to what is seen and is called a Canto, which refers to a poem and rhetorical discourse.
The exhibition is based on, and divided into, the four main steps of a Latin rhetorical argument; Inventio (finding the information); Dispositio (the disposition of the argument); Elocutio (the spoken argument) and Memoria (the recollection of the argument). Inventio and Dispositio are part of the summary or Exordium found in the catalogue. The videos are part of Elocutio and the prints and photographs part of Memoria
